Three ingredients for Umno to register a thumping victory in the coming general election were outlined today by Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who said "winnable candidates" alone were not sufficient.

NONE "The candidate may be winnable, but if the party is not mobilised without volunteers and members working day and night, the person can be transformed from a winnable candidate to a losing candidate," Khairy ( right ) said.

"Hence, party members must work together to ensure that the winnable candidate wins, for the candidate alone is insufficient, without a winnable party," he said when winding up the Umno annual general assembly debate for the Youth wing.

In addition to having a winnable candidate and winning party, Khairy said, "we must have a winning prime minister".

That, he said was what Umno president and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had, with his transformation agenda that has seen drastic changes.

"Who has mooted and facilitated the younger people to own affordable housing, who has mooted to raise the income with the idea of having a minimum wage?" he asked.

"All these are the transformation efforts taken and as youth, we are thankful for them," he said.

Therefore, Khairy added, all three - winnable candidates, winnable party and winnable prime minister - must work as a package for Umno and BN to register victory in the coming general election.

Puteri wing uses P Ramlee movie analogies

Meanwhile, the Puteri Umno chief used parodies in the ever-popular P Ramlee movies to describe the Opposition.

Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin in her analogy had the delegates in stitches by using the film Anakku Sazali and Madu Tiga to ridicule PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Ketua Puteri Umno, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin Both PKR and PAS, Rosnah ( left ) said, were born out of their frustrations and revenge against Umno.

Umno, she said had maintained with its struggles to preserve the race, religion and development of the Malays.

In using the first movie Anakku Sazali , she described a fictional character named Anwar, who was not thankful for what the party had given him.

"Anwar, not his real name, entered and his father trusted him. However, he had derhaka (betrayed) his father. He contested against us, as if we did not give him anything.

"However, Anwar would say that he is an adult now. This is the character in Anakku Sazali ," she said.

Rosnah, who is also deputy health minister, in using the movie Madu Tiga , described the main character, Jamil, making promises to his three wives.

"To the first wife, he would say, lu tolong gua, wa kasi apa lu mahu (if I help you, I will give you everything), in a hit against the DAP," she said.

"To the second wife, he would say, ‘I will promise to support the Islamic state, but will wait until it is formed’, in an obvious reference to PAS.

"To the third wife, that is the rakyat, Jamil would say, ‘I will fight to eliminate corruption, and will fight for the people’."

Then, the assembly deputy chairperson, Mohamad Abdul Aziz, intervened, saying, “there is a fourth wife who is jantan (a male)”, sending the audience into stitches.

"I agree with you, deputy chairperson," said Rosnah, adding that the character would cheat on the three wives just to achieve his means.
