A recipe for turning GLCs into NFCs
YOURSAY 'Umno delegates think they have the divine right to become GLC directors or maybe to get a contract or two from these GLCs.'
'No' to Umno politicians for top posts in GLCs
Onyourtoes: When a party has become bankrupt, all it does is to make unreasonable and illogical demands.
Firstly, the GLCs are owned by the government of Malaysia, hello, not Umno.
Secondly, GLCs are formed for many reasons, but I guess none of the Umno delegates would know what these are, and think they have the divine right to become GLC directors or maybe to get a contract or two from these GLCs.
GLCs are formed primarily to manage the nation's (not Umno's) resources, to spearhead Malaysia's (not Umno's) strategic industries, and to manage certain infrastructure and utilities more efficiently and effectively.
So far, not much of these objectives have been met given the many nincompoops in these GLCs, including Mapem president Rozali Ismail.
But if Umno politicians were to get involved even more pervasively, then I guess all the GLCs would become NFCs in no time.
My Thor: Knowing very well the GLCs are owned and run by Umno leaders using proxies, some delegates still cannot resist the lure of high income and fantastic perks given by GLCs that run into millions, to demand a place in those companies.
Apart from Umno leaders who are considered ‘trustworthy' and command a large following, the rest can forget the dream of an appointment to the GLCs, which is reserved for the Umno elite.
These appointments are reserved for these individuals, irrespective of their qualifications. The question is, do you belong to the Umno elite?
BluffMaster: We do not want dumb people to head the GLCs (government-linked companies). Appoint knowledgeable people be they Malays, Indians Chinese or even Mat Sallehs (foreigners).
We do not want plunderers. Just kick these Umno morons out and the GLCs will reap good profits for the nation to be shared by all.
Anonymous: How many Malaysians know that Rozali Ismail earns a massive RM60-plus million a year in salary alone at Puncak Niaga as executive chairman?
Due to this reason, he is not willing to relinquish the post to another bumiputera. He wants to have it all to himself. I think there is no CEO in Malaysia earning such remuneration.
Anonymous: A few years back, I tried to apply for the post of internal auditor in Puncak Niaga, but was told I need not apply because the job was exclusively for Malays. And Puncak Niaga is a public-listed company.
HermanCain: The Mapem president said GLC leaders have "no shortcomings or weaknesses...", and yet most GLCs are mismanaged.
Their suggested alternative is to have Umno members head these GLCs. The most lucrative and critical businesses in the country are being run by GLCs and we are presented with these kinds of choices?
Believe me, this country will forever be a mediocre one in spite of its rich resources compared to our neighbours and competitors. I have lost faith in this country a long time ago. God save this country.
Quigonbond: Why do Malaysia really need someone with Malay spirit to help Malays who are backwards? Why can't it be a Malaysian with Malaysian spirit to help all Malaysians who are still backward?
Ksn: In other words, all GLCs currently headed by Malays should give all to the Malays, whether Malays in general or Umno Malays.
So they, the GLCs, should not have national interests at heart and in the decisions they make and non-Malays who make up 40 percent of our population have no place in them, right?
What progressive thinking and what national agenda are they talking about? Do not forget GLCs are run on taxpayers' funds and most of the taxes are from non-Malays and from the country's natural resources like oil.
That is social justice, Umno-style.
Tailek: The Malays in general will always be economically backward because the Umno government wants them to be so, so that Umno can perpetuate the NEP (New Economic Policy) forever to benefit Umno cronies like Rozali and the whole pack of them.
The Umno government does not look after the Malay race, only the Malay elites and their cronies and proxies. The GLCs are not Umno property but are national assets. The kampong Malays should not be fooled by Umno.
Anonymous: Politics and business should and must never mix. Period. It's a recipe for disaster. Where in the world has it worked?
2lang : What do you call a creature that sucks on other people's blood? Yes, a leech. GLCs are using our money, including those from non-Malays, so why do they serve only the Malays?
