PAS takes gov't to court over Assembly Law

vox populi small thumbnail Joker: The courts will throw out the application saying that it is not their jurisdiction as the bill is not yet law and the courts' only function is to interpret law.

They will not be involved lest the public perceived them to be pro-opposition and the courts also want to uphold separation of powers. And finally, PAS will be asked to bear all the legal costs.

Steven Choong: I am no lawyer but I read in Wikipedia that this power was curbed after the 1988 Malaysian constitutional crisis by Dr Mahathir Mohamad through amendments to the federal constitution.

Since ‘curbed' is not total prohibition, I guess there is still hope that a judicial review could be granted and better still, if the judges were to find the Peaceful Assembly Bill unconstitutional.

Health Ministry admits to problems with KR1M goods

Lie Detector: For the Health Ministry to advise Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) is not good enough. They should be treated like everyone else and be prosecuted according to the law.

Karma: Now the Mydin Mohamed Holdings boss should challenge Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua to let himself and his family consume all the listed items in full view of the public.

Still, why are the items not recalled?

Dingy: The intention of KR1M products is clear - that is, to cut cost by compromising on quality.

Mydin claimed KR1M products are of high quality, which in fact is of low quality. I can't blame the suppliers if the profit margin is too low for them to carry on supplying KR1M products.

Remember during Bersih 2.0 when he initially denied outright that tear gas and water cannons were fired into a hospital, which was later proven to have happened?

KLeo: Obviously, Liow hasn't learned from the Tung Shin Hospital incident.

BBU : Liow, you say all the products of the KR1M are perfectly okay for the poor rakyat.

But after consuming them, if the rakyat get sick, the government hospitals would have no medicine to supply them. My regular check-ups at Malacca General Hospital reveals this.

Recently the doctor prescribed my regular medicine and when I went to collect them I got only two out of five medicines, and was told, "Ubat lain sudah habis. Bila sampai nanti kami panggil." (The other medicines have run out. We will call you when they arrive).

After 50 years of the BN regime, things are getting worse. Our beloved country is going to the dogs. At the state it is going, we will soon be seeing the poor rakyat dropping off and dying on the road.

Father And Son: Of course, we know that Liow Tiong Lai is not to blame. He was hoping to get some front-page glory but ended up in the obituary page.

The rush by the government to establish KR1M as the saviour ended up making Mydin RM40 million richer and Liow taking the rap. Sucker. Now you are not a winnable candidate. Bye bye.
