A Magistrates Court in Kuala Lumpur sentenced an unemployed man to seven days in prison today after he pleaded guilty to stealing money from a women's surau.

Magistrate Parvin Hameedah Natchiar ordered the sentence on Muhd Rosdi Ismail, 26, to take effect today.

Muhd Rosdi was charged with stealing RM35 from the women's surau on the 15th floor of Kompleks Dayabumi at 6.50pm on Nov 3.

The charge under Section 380 of the Penal Code carried a sentence of up to 10 years in prison or fine.

Deputy public prosecutor Tan Siew Ping prosecuted.
