PAS Youth today said MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek and non-Muslims in general have no right to speak about Islam because they have no knowledge about the religion.

In condemning Chua’s speech at a forum on hudud law yesterday, PAS Youth publicity chief Riduan Mohd Nor said the matter should only be discussed by qualified individuals.

“For PAS Youth, it is inappropriate for non-Muslims to discuss the hudud issue or Islamic laws because it would cause a bigger polemic.

“Islamic laws should be discussed in a scholarly manner by those who are qualified and involving all parties. Only then can this issue be explained correctly and comprehensively,” said Riduan.

“Rightfully, Chua should speak about his efforts to look after the Chinese community and how he wants to increase MCA’s support among the Chinese, and not talk about Islam,” he said.

Islamic laws fair to all

Riduan also vehemently opposed Chua’s argument that investors would flee Malaysia and the country will self-destruct if hudud laws were to be implemented.

On the contrary, he argued that investors are sure to flock to Malaysia because Islamic laws can ensure justice and security for all Malaysians.

“Logically, if justice and security can be ensured, it is a certainty that investors will come to Malaysia because their rights and safety are guaranteed,” he said.

On Chua’s allegation that Islamic laws are unfair to women, Riduan said the former must show proof.

“With the implementation of Islamic laws, a woman is ensured of respect. Prostitution, adultery, rape, sodomy, accusations of adultery and sodomy, among others, will not happen as much as it is now,” he said.

Riduan said PAS Youth was willing to meet Chua to explain Islamic laws in detail if the latter agrees.
