Armed with a machete, a rubber tapper killed a wild boar after it had gored another rubber tapper to death and attacked the victim’s wife at a farm near Kampung Jerkoh in Benta in Kuala Lipis yesterday.

Earlier, the impact of the boar’s attack caused Wahab Saad, 59, who sustained abdominal injuries, to fall into a nearby river. He died on the spot.

His wife, Napisah Aman, 50, who went to her husband’s aid, was also attacked by the wild boar, resulting in leg injuries in the incident about 12.30pm.

The beast then turned its attention on Wahab’s neighbour, Chong Chung, who was tending his farm.

As it charged towards him, Chong grabbed a machete and hacked it to death but not before he was also attacked by the boar.

Wahab’s body was sent to the Kuala Lipis Hospital where Napisah sought outpatient treatment.

Chong was warded at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh where his condition was reported to be stable.

Kuala Lipis police chief Supt Abdul Razak Hassan said the attack occurred when Wahab was tapping rubber at the couple’s farm.

“The wild boar suddenly came out of nowhere and attacked Wahab, causing him to fall into the river.

“His wife, who was cooking nearby at their hut, tried to help him but she was also attacked by boar which then went to an adjacent farm and attacked Chong,” he told reporters in Kuala Lipis.
