Formulate act to withdraw risky products, urges CAP
The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) has urged the government to formulate a new act to withdraw products which are risky and could lead to death to the consumer.
The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) has urged the government to formulate a new act to withdraw products which are risky and could lead to death to the consumer.
Its president, SM Mohamed Idris, said the new act was crucial because there were many products of low quality in the market.
“In Malaysia, there are only guidelines for the withdrawal of food, health and cosmetic products whereas there are many other products such as electrical, cars and other things which did not obtain the endorsement but were not withdrawn,” he said in a statement in George Town today.
He said there were many new electrical and innovative products which appeared on the market everyday and they did not carry the Sirim label.
“CAP had contacted the authorities to seek clarification on these products, but they failed to give any explanation,” he said.
