PKR deputy president Azmin Ali is being investigated by the Johor police for allegedly slandering the police.

In confirming with Berita Harian daily, Johor police chief Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said a police report has been made against the Gombak MP, following his comments reported in a news portal.

“We have contacted Azmin to record his statement but he has not been able to attend as he is in Sarawak attending to party matters.

"Our investigating officer has asked Azmin to come to the Johor police headquarters as soon as he finishes his programme,” Mokhtar told Berita Harian.

Mokhtar said Azmin was only called to give his statement following what was reported in the media.

wan azizah wan ismail pkr congress in johor 1 In a press conference during the PKR congress in Johor, the party deputy president claimed that the Johor police had prevented and revoked its permit for ceramah or political talks for programmes conducted in the state known to be an Umno bastion, following the three-day congress.

Azmin claimed police permits for events which was scheduled there had been revoked.

“We have 15 to 20 events at 14 divisions scheduled every night, with permits given a few days ago, but revoked last night,” he told reporters after officially opening the PKR Youth and Wanita wing congress.

Yesterday, it was reported that police are looking for Azmin to record his statement.
