Syndicates are using prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's name to collect donations for the general election, reports Malay daily Sinar Harian .

NONE According to MCA Public Complaints Bureau chief Michael Chong (left) , the syndicate uses up-to-date communications equipment to cheat the people.

In a recent case, Chong said, three individuals complained that they received a call from unidentified people saying they were from Bukit Aman and were collecting donations for the election.

"The complainants said the persons sought donation of between RM3,000 and RM5,000 to help with the prime minister's general election campaign. However, the three did not make donations and investigated the matter further," he said.

"It was later discovered that the calls came from numbers that had been cloned," said Chong.

Meanwhile, the same daily reported PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's sister Ummi Hafilda as saying she was willing to contest in the coming election if selected.

"I will let the leaders decide on whether I am qualified or not. If they decided against me, then it is all right," she is quoted as saying.

"What is important is for me to reveal the opposition's hypocrisy and I am willing to travel nationwide to campaign and give ceramah,"   Ummi Hafilda is quoted in the daily as saying on the Bernama Radio 24 programme.
