Felda settlers should disregard poison-pen letters by certain parties that they will lose assets and incentives after the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGVH) by the middle of next year.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Ahmad Maslan said government's efforts to list FGVH is Felda's fourth phase transformation that will benefit settlers and future generations.

"The poison pen letters are the evil work of the opposition. Felda will not do something negative and damaging to settlers and future generations," he said after briefing 260 Felda participants on current issues at Southern Region Rela Training Centre, Sungai Udang, Malacca today.

Ahmad said the listing of FGVH on the main board of Bursa Malaysia will not only be a blessing for Felda settlers but for all the people in this country.

"Felda's phases of transformation are firstly from forest to plantations, secondly from forest to well planned kampungs and thirdly from local business to overseas."

Plan still being studied

Prime Minister Najib Razak plans to implement phase four transformation via listing to make Felda among the world's best plantation "blue chip" companies.

The listing of FGVH on Bursa Malaysia would generate funds to turn Felda into a global conglomerate.

Ahmad advised Felda settlers to use the correct channel to clear confusion over the listing exercise.

"We can't reveal everything now because it (the listing) is still being studied. Don't believe opposition propaganda just because of information ambiguity," he said.
