Malay rights pressure group Perkasa today led 1,000 people in a demonstration against Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) director-general Zulkifli Wahab.

NONE The demonstrators demanded an internal audit on all departments within Felda to remove "traitors", whom they claim included Zulkifli.

Perkasa deputy president Abdul Rahman Abu Bakar ( right ) said action must be taken against Zulkifli because he was an obstacle to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s “transformation efforts” for Felda.

Abdul Rahman alleged that Zulkifli was the person who forwarded a copy of a confidential correspondences between Felda chairperson Isa Samad and Najib.

"The confidential letter (directing Zulkifli to go on study leave) has been leaked to the opposition, who else can leak it if not him?"

About 12.30pm, the protesters gathered some 500m from Wisma Felda on Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur, before marching to Balai Felda building at Jalan Maktab with banners denouncing PAS-linked NGO Anak.

During the one-hour rally, protesters chanted slogans such as "long live Felda", "destroy Anak" and "destroy PAS", and unfurled banners that read "we reject external elements" and "PAS lies to Felda settlers".

 Forensic audit

Apart from Perkasa, Felda settlers, members from Malaysia Felda Youth Council (MBFM), Umno and a Seremban-based pro-Malay NGO called Coalition to Dignify National Leaders (Gabungan Memartabat Pemimpin Negara) also joined the demonstration.

Others who addressed the crowd were MBFM chairperson Anuar Abdul Manap and Selangor Umno youth leader Engku Salleh Engku Jamal.

"We hope Felda management led by Isa will carry out an internal forensic audit. We also hope that all agencies under Felda will undergo forensic audits," read the memorandum.

The document also supported the government's initiative to list Felda Global Ventures Holdings, one of Felda's subsidiaries, in Bursa Malaysia. Zulkifli objected to this, leading to action taken against him.

He has been told to go on  study leave beginning from Nov 25.

The memorandum also condemned the interference of Anak which was said to have "instigated" the Felda settlers to reject the government's "noble efforts".

Anak, which claims to represent the Felda settlers, has been at the fore of protests against the listing of Felda Global Ventures.
