Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Mukhriz Mahathir hopes to contest for the Jerlun parliamentary seat again if he is nominated as a candidate for the coming 13th general election.     

azlan However, the Kedah Umno deputy liaison chief, said the matter would be decided by the party leadership and he would abide by any decision even if asked to contest in another constituency.

"I'll abide by whatever decision to be made by the party leadership," he told reporters at the Kayuhan Mesra Rakyat 1Malaysia programme organised by Jerlun MCA near Jitra today.  

He said this when asked on a speculation that he would be nominated to contest in Langkawi in the coming general election.     

Mukhriz, who won the Jerlun parliamentary seat in the last general election, said the party leadership had his own criteria in the selection of candidates.
