The Kelantan/Terengganu Orang Asli Development Department has identified 2,431 Orang Asli families who are eligible for the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) recently announced by the government.
Its director, Faridah Mat said, 1,100 forms have been given to eligible households since last Thursday, while 1,331 more forms will be distributed in stages.
"The bad weather experienced lately has made it difficult for villagers to get the forms, so we have to go and hand over the forms to them in their respective villages," she told reporters after distributing BR1M forms to Orang Asli residents in a ceremony at the Dewan Jubli Perak, Rancangan Pengumpulan
Semula (RPS) Kuala Betis, near here, yesterday evening.
Faridah was confident that eligible individuals will receive and submit their application forms before the closing date in early January.
"We will find the best way to get the forms to our target group even if they live in the most remote areas so that they can enjoy the BR1M aid.
"We've still got mandate from the Kelantan Federal Development Department (JPPK) to manage the distribution and completion of these forms until the end of the application period," she added.
