The Dewan Negara sitting today passed the Supply Bill 2012 (Budget 2012) amounting to RM232.8 billion for operational and development expenditure for the year 2012.     

The 2012 Budget was passed at about 10.37pm after being debated by 21 members of the Upper House for seven days from Dec 8 to 14.    

The Dewan Negara passed the budget after the third reading by Deputy Finance Minister Awang Adek Hussin with the majority voting in favour.     

On Oct 7, Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak tabled the 2012 Budget comprising RM181.6 billion for operating expenditure and RM51.2 billion for development expenditure.     

The Senate will sit again tomorrow.
