Pikom, the National ICT Association of Malaysia, has been invited by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) as one of 17 stakeholders to provide comments and input to the proposed Computing Professionals Bill 2011.
Its president Shaifubahrim Saleh said Pikom was not leading the initiative of drafting the proposed Bill.
“While we see this as a move to enhance professionalism of the industry, we are concerned with the scope, approach and implementation. As it stands now, it lacks details,” he said in a statement today.
“We understand the proposed Bill is an initial draft, hence feedback is crucial.
“We will be polling them to gauge their sentiments,” he said, referring to Pikom’s 1,400 members.
