The Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (Maidam) will hold a special meeting tomorrow to discuss follow up actions on the issue of two prayers in one kariah (congregation) on Fridays in several districts in the state.

Its president, Mazlan Hashim, said the issue would be discussed in-depth, report of which would be presented to the Sultan of Terengganu, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, who had expressed regret over the incident recently.

“We will know tomorrow on the actions to be taken against the mosques," he told reporters after a press conference on the 2011 Muslim Brotherhood Convention in Kuala Terengganu.

Mazlan said among those to be present at the meeting are the state secretary, legal adviser, financial officer, mufti, state police chief and the comptroller of the state palace.

He said the situation had been prevalent in the state and that it should be tackled as soon as possible.

The Terengganu Islamic Religious Affairs Department identified 11 mosques, most of them in Besut, promoting two prayers in one congregation on Fridays.
