The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the state Islamic religious departments and councils will meet soon to discuss the enforcement of the Enactment on the Control and Restriction of the Propagation of Non-Islamic Religion to Muslims.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom said the meeting would be held to resolve issues on apostasy, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.

"I have asked Jakim to arrange the meeting soon so that we can inform the people about the law and on its enforcement to resolve the issues," he told a media conference in Putrajaya today.

He said majority of the people did not know that there was a law on the control of the propagation of non-Islamic religion to Muslims, resulting in many of them to call for the formulation of such a law.

All states already had the law, except Perak, the Federal Territory, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak, he added.
