The dust has yet to settle for DAP in Penang over the ‘godfather-warlord’ spat but already another round of friendly fire is being unleashed in Perak.

Yesterday, DAP national vice-chairperson M Kulasegaran held a press conference urging his party colleague Nga Kor Ming to come clean over a tailoring contract involving the latter’s wife.

NONE “Business and politics should not mix. One should not make money from politics... In the party's best interest, Nga should clear the air over the matter,” said Kulasegaran, according to a report by The Star today.

Kulasegaran is the first DAP national leader to openly question Nga over the matter. During the last state DAP elections, the duo were in opposing camps.

Contacted today, Nga refused comment on Kulasegaran’s call but stressed that he and his wife was innocent of the charges and promised to sue his accuser for defamation.

Blogger Ahmad Sofiyan Yahya, who writes for the Sekupang Dua blog, claimed that tailors Ethan & Elton Sdn Bhd had won a tailoring contract from Ipoh City Hall 24 lounge suits under dubious circumstances.

MACC report lodged

He charged that the company, formed 42 days after Pakatan Rakyat took over the state in 2008, was owned by Nga’s wife and won contract despite providing the highest bid.

The blogger claimed that Nga had influenced the bidding process, resulting in the award.

Ethan & Elton has since denied charges of favourable treatment, stressing that the main proprietor of the company was an experienced tailor and the bid was won because of the quality of the material used.

Nga himself has claimed that he had nothing to do with the deal and that his wife was a mere sleeping partner in the said company.

Ahmad Sofiyan has since lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to back his claims .
