PKR has denied circulating messages calling on the public to rally and create “chaos” when the Sodomy II verdict is decided on Jan 9.
Secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the messages were being spread through phone text messaging systems, alleging that he was calling on PKR members to join the rally.
"I strongly deny that such orders exist and I am convinced that this is a false allegation from Umno, which is becoming frightful with the uprising of the people against their repression and cruelty, in robbing and abusing the people's property and country," he said in a statement today.
He urged members and supporters gathering to show support for Anwar to assemble peacefully, obey instructions from officials and not respond to provocations.
The verdict would conclude an almost two-year long trial, where Anwar was charged with sodomising his then aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan in 2008.
