The remand of a businessman who is believed to be associated with the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) case has been extended until tomorrow.

Kuala Lumpur Commercial Crimes Investigation Department chief ACP Izany Abdul Ghany said the remand order on the 45-year-old man was extended after it expired today.

“Police sought the extension,” he said in an SMS to Bernama in Kuala Lumpur today.

Newspaper reports said the man, who was remanded for five days since last Thursday to help in investigations on the NFC case by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, was freed but detained again by police, to help in investigations on a cheating case involving a petrol kiosk project.

The NFC issued cropped up after the Auditor-General’s Report 2010 stated that it failed to meet the aspirations of its formation.

The opposition has claimed there had been misappropriation in the management of its funds.
