The RM102.6 million productivity incentive bonus for Felda settlers will enable about 15,000 settlers in Jengka to make an early preparation before schools reopen.

Felda Jengka Federation of Security and Development Committees deputy president Sulaiman Bakar said the bonus was a testimony of the government's commitment and sincerity in easing the burden of Felda settlers.

"The bonus rebuts a claim that the welfare of Felda settlers is neglected by the government," he told Bernama in Maran, Pahang.

A total of 95,949, or 85.19 percent, of 112,635 settlers will benefit from the bonus which will be paid out through Felda scheme offices. The settlers will receive between RM400 and RM1,200, depending on their yields.

Felda Jengka 18 settler chief Samad Samah, 59, the bonus would help settlers tide over their rising expenses before school reopening next week.

Felda Kota Gelanggi I settler chief Abdul Rahman Ghani, 48, said the settlers should be rational as the government had been taking care of their welfare since the land scheme was opened.

Felda Jengka 3 settler chief Zainuddin Jantan, 58, said the settlers should not fall prey to the opposition accusation that their well-being was being neglected by the government.
