Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd says it has neither received any formal invitation nor has any plan to bid for the stakes in the national carmaker, Proton Holdings Bhd.

Tan Chong said this in its reply to Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd’s query on a news report entitled ‘Proton Saga continues -Tan Chong Motor may be preparing to bid for national carmaker’.

The news item also reported that Tan Chong Motor could be joining the race to acquire Khazanah Nasional Bhd’s stake in Proton and it has been invited to submit a bid.

It was also reported to be in the midst of drawing up a proposal.
