'Don't expect Shahrizat and family to pay'

YOURSAY 'As long as Umno rules, Shahrizat and her family are safe. At most, Shahrizat will be dropped and her family kicked out of NFC.'

'Shahrizat's family swiped RM600,000 from NFC'

your say Kgen: As long as Umno rules, Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and her family are safe from any harsh action. At most, Shahrizat will be dropped and her family kicked out of NFC.

Don't expect charges to be brought against them or the government taking legal action to get the money back. This can only happen with a change of government.

The family's declaration that business will continue as usual despite the asset freeze is a slap in the face for Najib.

No company can carry on business as usual if its bank accounts have been frozen - evidently they have not.

Fly Emirates: The right thing to do now is to urgently appoint an internationally recognised auditing firm to conduct a forensic accounting investigation on the firm and appoint a temporary administrator to look after its day-to-day operational matters.

Bender: Perhaps a break down of that RM600,000 would make things clearer for us. Why such big expenses? What were they for? Were they business expenses or personal?

Although I'm all for bringing them to justice, still, if those expenses were legitimate, it shouldn't seem as though a crime had been committed.

Being fair is what separates us from them.

Bluemountains: Why only investigate Shahrizat? Is the PM going to order former agricultural minister Muhyiddin Yassin to be investigated as well?

After all, the soft loan was given out under his watch and at least one year before the contract was signed. Someone must take responsibility for this negligence.

Mob1900: Just the credit card expenditure is already almost RM600,000. Imagine their total spending, including their incomes.

We also want to know which bank gave them this generous credit line. While the rest of us struggle with our house payments, bills and other commitments daily, these banks are giving Umno ministers free credit lines.

Gordon Gecko: Money not earned through hard work, sweat and tears means nothing to these people.

And Shahrizat's NFC family epitomises the typical Umno-connected bumiputera businessman's way of doing business - that is, spend lavishly, divert and pocket the allocated funds for personal use.

The history of Umno starting from the Dr Mahathir Mohamad era is littered with crony bumiputera businessmen with the same modus operandi and Shahrizat's family happens to be one of the unlucky ones to be picked on.

Perhaps Shahrizat's zodiac animal sign is not compatible with the ‘cow' sign.

1M: A scandal of such magnitude should have been detected easily by the Umno government, yet it took the opposition to expose it. It shows how the 1Najib government tolerates corruption.

Should we continue to support this government despite all the goodies handed out to us?

Rahmat Ibrahim: The money ‘scammed' after the AG (auditor-general) highlighted this mess should be paid back by PM and DPM because they failed to take action immediately.

Also deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar should be sacked for announcing that no offence has been detected after a preliminary investigation.

IVote: I wonder why the PM and his deputy are so slow to take any concrete action against Shahrizat. The temporary freezing of NFC assets means nothing as its business as usual, and the spending will still go on.

Many people must be wondering if Shahrizat has some secret knowledge of the wrongdoings of her boss and her cabinet colleagues, which could explain the delay.

Nothing much has said by the MCA and MIC on this serious issue too. How can they expect support from the fence-sitters at the next GE?

'Slash RM215,000 salary of NFC top executives'

Manjit Bhatia: I completely disagree with DAP MP Lim Kit Siang. RM71,000 a month for the four so-called NFC executives from the same family is far too much 'reward'. That's RM17,750 a month for each of them.

It's becoming ever clearer that the rorting is so extensive and willful - with potentially criminal intent to defraud - that these people should not be paid a single cent.

In fact the gutless Umno regime of Najib Razak must be pressured by Pakatan Rakyat and the people to act swiftly to freeze NFC's operations at once and, further, force them to stand down until all investigations are exhausted.

That's not all. The police must not investigate them. If it's the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) that investigates them, there needs to be parliamentary oversight of the MACC to ensure the job is done openly and fully and without fear or favour. Give not an inch to rogues and thieves.

Pak Tua: The Department of Veterinary Services must take over this project and the present directors must not be paid a single sen. Otherwise, there is no meaning at all in the PM's statement that the NFC's assets are frozen.

Confused: No one in the cabinet dares to say anything because every single one of them is also involved in one way or another of gaining monetary benefits from other government-sponsored projects.

Malaysian ABU: 1Malaysia, People First, Performance Now = Low interest soft loan to minister's family (1Malaysia), pay for luxury condos, cars and land and pay themselves whopping salaries (People First), but produce results much below target (Performance Now).
