'Declare the seat you will contest in the next general election and we will confidently state the DAP will defeat you.'

This was the challenge thrown to MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek today by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

The DAP, Lim added, was not interested in playing MCA's "boastful games" when the only one making political challenges was the MCA, not DAP.

Unlike MCA, the DAP does not engage in "political games by boasting" that it will win or beat Liow, who is the MCA deputy chief and Bentong MP, or the party's vice-president Dr Ng Yen Yen in Raub, Lim said in a statement.

"Only MCA makes these boasts. We therefore hope that Chua Soi Lek will stop deceiving the people on this matter," he added.

"Will Chua Soi Lek dare to announce the seat he intends to contest? Then let me go to that constituency and repeat Liow's remarks that we are confident of defeating Chua to see how Chua will respond."

Lim said this in taking potshots at the MCA following Liow's recent statement that MCA was capable of winning the chief minister's parliamentary seat of Bagan in mainland Penang.

Liow, who is also health minister, had said that MCA had chosen a candidate to take on Lim, and this person would do well as Bagan needed a hardworking and responsible person.

Malaysiakini had reported recently that the BN coordinator for Bagan, David Chua, was prepared to take on Lim in the coming election, which must be called by next year.

Liow also said that Lim had too many appointments and was too occupied to focus on his constituency, which has been in opposition hands for 25 years.

Chua lied about Penang

Lim also said this was not the first time that Chua had failed to keep his promise not to deceive the people, especially those around him.

"This is typical of MCA's deceptive politics, where black becomes white and white becomes black."

Penang suffered no budget deficit, but in fact recorded budget surpluses every year for the four years that Pakatan has been in power, and this has been certified by the Auditor-General's annual reports.

Penang, Lim added, remains the only state to be praised by Transparency International for the state government's efforts in battling corruption by implementing the open tender system.
