Five former Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) members who were sacked from the party recently, formed a Barisan Nasional (BN) Club to enable them to carry on serving the people and government.   

The five are Tasik Biru assemblyperson Peter Nansian Ngusie; Marudi assemblyperson and Water Supply and Agriculture assistant minister Sylvester Entri Muran; Mas Gading MP Dr Tiki Lafe; Bekenu assemblyperson Rosey Yunus and Batu Danau assemblyperson Paulus Palu Gumbang.   

In his speech, Nansian said the establishment of the club was proof that the group still supported BN and its state and national leadership.  

“We were elected under BN’s name and now we’ve formed a BN Club. Statements saying we’re neither in SPDP nor BN are not true,” he said to an audience of about 1,000 supporters, at the Dewan Suarah Bau in Bau, Sarawak today.

Sylvester, Tiki, Rosey and Paulus were also present at the event.  

“We were not ordinary members of the party, we represented other members and were elected as BN representatives in the state and general election but why were we just sacked like ordinary members,” he said.   

 

The sacking of four of the members was announced on Jan 15 by SPDP president William Mawan Ikom.   

Sylvester, who held the post of vice-president, was sacked on Nov 28 last year.  

Nansian and Tiki took down the SPDP signboards at their respective offices today and replaced them with signs saying Barisan Nasional People’s Service Centre, with BN and 1Malaysia logos.
