A 20-year-old man died and two others were injured when the car they were travelling in skidded at Km112.1 of the East Coast

Highway and landed in a ditch yesterday evening.

Temerloh police chief Mohd Noor Mansur said the victim Abdul Rahman Abdullah died on the spot after succumbing to severe head injuries.

"His two friends, driver Muhammad Zulkfikar Nasaruddin, 21, and one more yet to be identified, were hurt and are now being treated at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital," he said to reporters in Temerloh today.

The mishap occurred at 5.15pm when a rear tyre of the Perodua Viva, heading towards Kuala Lumpur, burst, causing it to skid.

"The car then landed in a ditch by the side of the highway," he said.
