The passenger train service from Kuala Lipis to Tumpat was delayed by 20 minutes after one of its coaches caught fire at about 7.20pm yesterday.

No casualties were reported however, and the 120 passengers on board arrived at their destination safely after the affected coach, which contained the generator for the train’s air-conditioning, was left at the Kuala Krai station.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad communications unit senior director Mohd Fazil Ismail said the incident occurred just a kilometre from the Kuala Krai station.

“There was a 20-minute delay at Kuala Krai before the service continued to Tumpat,” he said.
