Guan Eng: Utusan showing signs of frustration

The DAP is incensed over an editorial in Umno-owned newspaper Utusan Malaysia alleging that it is the world’s most racist party.
The party is doubly irked by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s remark that DAP was “chauvinistic and anti-Malay”.
The party’s secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng, said the remarks show their “sheer frustration” that more and more Malays no longer believe in Umno, nor its media organ, such that some have resorted to joining the DAP.
Lim said the Malay-language newspaper, which has been most vocal in criticising the party, has lost credibility among the community when it was found guilty by the Penang High Court of defamation and ordered to pay him RM200,000.
He added that Muhyiddin has no right to label the DAP as chauvinistic when the party was multi-racial and open to all Malaysians, while the latter is “Malay first and Malaysian second”.
Muhyiddin’s refusal to condemn Utusan Malaysia for calling the tragic May 13 riots which caused the deaths of thousands of Malaysians, mainly non-Malays, as a sacred day shows who is the real chauvinist and racist, stressed Lim.
Guan Eng proud of defending Malays
“I am proud of having gone to prison for fighting against the injustice inflicted on a poor Malay family in Malacca. Has any BN leader gone to prison for defending the rights of Malays or non-Malays?” he queried.
“Yes, BN leaders have gone to prison but not for the rakyat but for corruption or cheating the rakyat’s monies,” added the Penang chief minister.
Utusan ’s latest attack against the DAP follows its adviser Lim Kit Siang’s response to MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek’s recent call for Chinese voters not to experiment with change but to support BN.
The Ipoh Timur MP had said that the Chinese had managed to attain economic prosperity despite BN’s failure as its federal administration is mired in “corruption” and “abuse of power”.
“It is evident that Kit Siang cannot hide DAP’s true agenda in inciting the Chinese community ahead of the 13th general election.
“It shows the truth that DAP is not only the most racist party in Malaysia, it is the most racist party in the world,” said a Mingguan Malaysia editorial under the Awang Selamat pseudonym.
“Why is it okay for Chua to call on Chinese voters to unite against change and support BN but not okay for Lim Kit Siang to call on Chinese voters to unite and ensure a change of government by supporting Pakatan?” Lim asked.
