If it was meant for the Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF), don't you think it would be much better to highlight Malay dresses (which are far less expensive) with the various batik designs and in the process promoting the Malay culture as well?

So, Rosmah Mansor, stop fooling the public and stop taking us for idiots.

Justicekini: During former Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's time, his late first wife promoted batik. Aren't our batik good enough to be promoted in other countries? Why use Australian designs for IFF's London shop?

Rosmah must be a super saleswoman. Here her husband asks us to ‘Buy Malaysian' but he goes and stays in the best hotels, lets his wife go on spending sprees, then hands out RM500 to the Malaysian poor.

Pemerhati: After fashion journalist Patty Huntington wrote the story of Rosmah's estimated A$100,000 (RM325,000) purchases Carl Kapp sent her an SMS saying, "Thanks for the brilliant write-up!"

That alone strongly indicates that Huntington's story was essentially correct. If there were any errors, he would not have called the write-up brilliant but would have pointed out the errors.

But after the matter blew up and after Kapp sensed that he might lose a big client (big in more ways than one), he tried to cover up for Rosmah by disputing the A$100,000 dollar figure.

Rosmah's other lackeys and hangers-on also got into the act by coming out with statements that she did not make all the purchases.

These lackeys and hangers-on were either most probably instructed by Rosmah to come up with the cock-and-bull stories or probably did it on their own to impress her so that in future she would drop more crumbs their way.

Sarawakian_3ff9: They can't spin this one. Everything fits, even all the dresses are of one size, I presume. The designer was bragging because this must have been a windfall for  him, probably a whole year's worth of sales.

So the best thing to do is just shut up, pretend nothing happened and enjoy the dresses. But like the RM24 million diamond, she can only enjoy them in her own bedroom because people will be paying attention to what she will be wearing from henceforth. Poor rich woman.

Little Han2: Like a once-upon-a-time dentist who saved his money to buy a RM3.5 million Balinese villa and the fact that if a woman can save enough to buy a RM24 million diamond ring, I am sure A$100,000 dresses are loose change.

We must all learn to save like them.

Rebranding Rela into BN's vanguard

Gen Half Track: The most dangerous thing is to give weapons to untrained personnel. I dread to think if an emergency is declared to have these lunatics running around trying to enforce the law. It will be absolute mayhem.

Rela members cannot be even trusted to detain illegal immigrants without abusing them by stealing their valuables.

HangTuah: A tenth of Malaysia's population is in auxiliary security force Rela? Can easily make it into Ripley's Believe or Not. Sure or not, Bob Teoh?

Mangodurian: There are 2.8 million Rela personnel in Malaysia? That's crazy! Who are these Rela members answerable to, and should they even be trained in defensive and offensive techniques?

They should have no business in law enforcement. All law enforcement institutions are answerable to the king, not the government.

Rela is answerable to not even the government, but to BN. This has sinister BN conspiracy and motives written all over it, and it is good this article brought it up.

It is easy to see how this can turn into those pro-Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi or Rwandan gangs out to enforce and defend a particular group's interests.

Up2U: This is not a fair opinion of Rela or even the police and Armed Forces. When it comes to the crunch, do not be surprised that many, especially the lower ranks may be supportive of the rakyat's choice. God Almighty works in wondrous ways.

Chritopher Loi: I am a Rela recruit and also a businessman. My friends are also businessmen and some very successful. We joined Rela for the fact that we have a childhood dream of either serving the Army or the police force.

If Rela is to become a tool of any political party (and asked to vote for any government), we will definitely leave the force.

We are definitely not doing it for the pay (it doesn't even pay for any of my children's daycare fees). We do not have to participate as we already have very tight schedules, but this is something we always wanted to do.

Righteous: Isn't it obvious to everyone that if this money was spent building and training the police force that we wouldn't need Rela?

If I were the police, I would be very upset that the government was pouring money into Rela that should be spent to make the Malaysian police a true police force.
