Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak was right in his decision to suspend five students from state-owned Kolej Universiti Insaniah (Kuin) under the Universities and University Colleges Act (UUCA) because he loves the college more than the students, said pro-government student group Aspirasi.

Its chief, Mohd Shahar Abdullah, contended that the five students  punished for protesting against the takeover of a building which houses their hostel and prayer hall, were going against regulations.

He said the students should have used a better platform to air their grievances.

“If they hold demonstrations for every single thing they are unhappy with, it would cause disturbance to the other campus communities.

“So in that case, the UUCA was used as a protective measure to punish the five for the sake of the majority,” he said after launching a student roadshow programme in Kuala Lumpur today.

The campaign, titled as ' Aman Kampus ' (Peace Campus), will hit the road next week with a 14-day convoy tour of  peninsula states, followed by roadshows in 25 universities, climaxing in a major rally attended by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in March.

On whether or not the group will use the platform to press Deputy Higher Education Minister Saifuddin Abdullah to relinquish his post, Mohd Shahar waved away the question.

"That is just a small matter, we won't raise it in the campaign," he said.

He added that a memorandum demanding that Saifuddin take responsibility for the Najib flag incident has been sent, but there has been no response thus far.
