Jingga 13, the PKR-linked NGO that has been harping on the National Feedlot Centre controversy, suspects that the RM250 million government soft loan given to the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) has also been abused by Wanita Umno.

Fariz noted that the women, family and community development minister is seen to be dragging the women’s wing into the scandal involving her family, and diverting the issue by claiming that the attacks against her are aimed at destroying the wing.

“The question is whether the NFC fund has also been abused for the purpose of  Wanita Umno when she tried to drag in (Wanita Umno)?

“Shahrizat must explain the matter with full transparency, honesty and truth, more so when she had been to Mecca three times in two-and-a-half months,” he said in a statement today.

Jingga 13 also urged the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to take immediate action against the NFC in a transparent and professional manner.

NFC’s chairperson Mohamed Salleh Ismail, who is also Shahrizat’s husband, is accused of mishandling the RM250 million government soft loan.

The NFC project is aimed at reducing Malaysia’s beef imports but the Auditor-General Report 2010 has stated that the project is very far off the target.

Following this, several PKR leaders have “exposed” how the RM250 million soft loan was used for non-cattle rearing related matters, such as purchases of luxury condominiums in Kuala Lumpur.

The funds were also allegedly used for a plot of prime land in Putrajaya and for the purchase of a luxury car.
