Support of the Indian community in Kedah for the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership has increased by more than 80 percent, said state BN chairperson Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
He said with that level of support, he was confident BN would be able to recapture the state from the opposition in the coming general election.
“Now that we are confident with the significant shift of the Indian community towards BN, I am giving my guarantee that BN would win,” he told reporters after attending a Thaipusam celebration with MIC Kedah at Subramaniam Temple in Sungai Petani today.
He said the festivity in the Thaipusam celebration this year clearly showed the solidarity among the Indian community in the state.
He said through the unity, it would help Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to implement the changes for the nation’s future not only for the Indian community but the people as a whole.
In another development, he said the prime minister and deputy prime minister would be making a one-day visit to Kedah on Feb 25 and 14 respectively.
Ahmad Bashah said with the presence of the two leaders in the state, it showed their seriousness towards the people in Kedah as well as to restore the people’s confidence in the BN leadership.
He said the programmes for the visit of the two leaders to the state were being arranged.
