The adorable hornbill Ubah, which shot to fame as DAP’s mascot during the Sarawak state election, is back, this time on Blackberry Messenger (BBM).

Eager for more friends on BBM, Ubah had last Sunday made public its BBM pin on its latest website, Ubah.my .

“Ubah wants more friends on BBM,” it said in a Blackberry conversation with Malaysiakini .

Ubah can be found at the BBM pin: 216F89DC, which according to its website, is aimed at providing Blackberry users with direct updates as the 13th general election looms.

Why is Ubah on BBM?

Ubah wants to be on as many platforms as possible, iOS, Android and BBM. But Ubah was told by developers that creating an application is expensive, so Ubah is using BBM, no need for applications.

Where did you get your Blackberry device from?

Ubah’s Blackberry is a second-hand Blackberry. Someone from (DAP) headquarters gave it to Ubah. The keys are not working and the scroll pad is stuck, but Ubah’s beak is doing well with the keyboard.

NONE Why are you typing so slowly... Can’t you use your wings?

Ubah’s wings are for balancing, and one claw is to grip the Blackberry and another is for standing on the tree. Ubah can only type with beak.

What have you been up to since after the Sarawak state election?

Ubah was very excited with the Sarawak state election results and Ubah has been flying around Sarawak to thank the people. Since then, Ubah has been called for 61 fitting session but Ubah only tried seven or eight, have you seen Ubah in baju Melayu?

No... But we’ve seen you in different outfits on this year’s ang pow.

Ubah is happy to bring joy to little ones when they see Ubah on ang pow.

You seem to have gained a lot of popularity including in peninsula Malaysia, what have you been doing with your new-found fame?

Ubah is popular here? Ubah is shy. Ubah thinks that a lot needs to be done here in peninsula Malaysia. Sarawak election was a good start but Ubah is hopeful.

Are you prepared for the general election? Do you know when?

Ohh... The 24 millon dollar question. That’s the frequently asked question for Ubah on and off BBM. Ubah cannot predict, but Ubah will work hard.

What is your message for BBMers and Malaysians at large?

Ubah wants more friends on BBM. So do add Ubah. Ubah message for Malaysia is: Ubah Sekarang, Selamatkan Malaysia!
