There is still time for the Barisan Nasional (BN) to bolster the image of the party and winnable candidates before the next general election, said Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid said hence, internal bickering among party members and leaders must be resolved quickly to strengthen party's unity.

"We need to act quickly to resolve internal problems and not to let the quagmire to drag on until the dissolution of parliament and state assemblies," he told reporters after launching the Felda Territorial Army company at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Felda Gedangsa, Hulu Selangor today.

Ahmad Zahid said as 38.8 percent of voters in the next general elections aged 40 years and below, efforts must be made to woo them to support the BN.

Commenting on a call by former finance minister Daim Zainuddin for BN component parties to unite and work hard for victory in the next general election, Ahmad Zahid said it was a sincere reminder from a veteran politician who was concern with the BN survival.

Ahmad Zahid said Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin were working relentlessly to unite the party and the country, and restore the people's confidence in Umno and the BN.
