Umno, not Buku Jingga, deserves the trash bin

YOURSAY 'This uncouth deputy minister threw the Buku Jingga into the trash bin and in so doing only revealed his true pathetic nature.'

Deputy minister 'trashes' Buku Jingga over Felda

your say Armageddon: Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Ahmad Maslan must learn to respect other people's views. Don't be too arrogant to the extent of throwing a book into a dustbin.

Don't make the same mistake of former Selangor MB Khir Toyo, who awarded a broom to an elderly senior civil servant, but is now paying the price for it.

Jimmy Ng : This uncouth deputy minister threw Pakatan Rakyat's ‘Buku Jingga' (Orange Book) into the trash bin and in so doing only revealed his true pathetic nature and character (or lack of it).

If he was an educated minister (obviously, he is not), he should have chosen to openly and publicly justified and clarified, point for point, all the so-called "wild" allegations levelled against the listing of FGVB (Felda Global Ventures Holdings).

Sadly, being the typical BN minstrel that he is, he could not. And so instead, he resorted to his vile ‘kurang ajar' act in his desperate attempt to discredit the Buku Jingga.

Swkdayaks: That is the soul, heart and character of Umno leaders. They just cannot accept or tolerate alternative views.

Felda is not their personal or their grandfathers' land. But you see how violent they get in imposing what they want on the settlers.

Even though the BN has lost its two-thirds majority in Parliament, these Umno leaders behave like that against the people.

The only solution is to dump Umno once and for all into the dustbin of history in this coming 13th general election.

Omg: A book is meant to be respected. I taught my son this when he was two years old. Here is a deputy minister setting a horrible example for our children. Shame on you.

K.S.K: My son asked me why the deputy minister acted that way? I told him everybody has a right to voice their ideas. Only dictators do not listen to other people.

My son then said, "I hope the minister's father will not get angry at him for being rude." Guess what? My son is only five years old.

Pants on Fire: This is appalling, coming from a deputy minister. Really, really disgusting. My parents have always taught me, and even caned me, for stepping on a book or newspaper intentionally.

My grandmother told me all books must be considered sacred, whether we agree or not with its contents. This behaviour by the deputy minister is unbecoming.

AkuMelayu Some people can be so stupid. They cannot even differentiate between a book and an election manifesto.

Even the Kedah MB says, "Kedah will not follow Pakatan Rakyat's Buku Jingga or the Common Policy Framework as it is not the Quran. I will certainly hit back at critics who use flimsy excuses like the Buku Jingga to undermine my administration."

This shows that Buku Jingga is nothing more than a political promise on paper.

Fair Play: The deputy minister's action reflects poorly on him as a politician. If ever Pakatan comes to power, and there is an even chance that they might, I doubt that this incident is likely to be forgotten or forgiven.

Broom Squardo: What a gigantic disgrace! You must have felt very proud of doing it, but it only shows your true colours as a politician and a human being. How sad.

Mat Malaysia: This is the book 50 percent or more of the population support and this ‘cretin' has just thrown it into a dustbin. This is the respect Ahmad Maslan shows for members of the public.

Does he really think he is scoring brownie points? Keep it up Mr ‘Bankrupt of Ideas', your days are numbered. Such ‘kampung' mentality; such lack of statesmanship. No class, no sophistication, just raw untreated sewage.

George_1de8: All of Maslan's actions have been pre-planned - the throwing of the book into the bin, which is placed at the rostrum.

I have never seen a bin next to a rostrum. He is so afraid of the facts in the book. But when they can't justify, they just get angry. The people can no longer be taken for a ride.

Msiakini4all: The act is so fake. They must have wasted time discussing this behind closed doors: "First, we condemn the ‘buku', then I'll throw it into the dustbin. Must show the people the law of the jungle."

I have never seen such a huge dustbin on stage before. It looks like the dustbin is the only clean one up there.

Timothy: This is typically how Umno handles issues not to their liking/favour. Sadly, this violent and provocative action has trickled down to many on the streets. See and read how we react with violence when we are not happy.

Felda settlers should asked themselves, is everything that is written in the ‘Buku Jingga' rubbish and deserve to be trashed? If not, put Umno-BN into the trash bin at the next GE.

Human Race: The deputy minister has no guts to answer Malaysiakini's questions; pity him. It all starts from home, I wonder who brought him up.

Kairos: The whole purpose of the proposed Felda listing is to enrich Umno cronies. That's the bottom line. As always, the government's agenda is suspect.

If the government does not have to get the consent of the poor innocent settlers, it would have bulldozed its way through. Hence, it has to resort to sending a deputy minister to act out the scripted drama to try to convince and even frighten the rural folks to submit.

I hope Pakatan Rakyat will continue to tell the other side of the story and warn the people of the implications of giving in to the government's deceptive scheme.

Pity Him: Very smug indeed of this mighty deputy minister and his subordinates. The 1,300 people at the event are not settlers anymore, they can form their own opinions of this thieving government.
