Kedah is a winnable state for BN if the state BN leaders, especially in Umno, can resolve their internal problems.

christmas school 261211 muhyiddin Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin ( right ) said the people were becoming more aware of the weaknesses of the PAS-controlled state government which was incapable of continuing the development by the previous BN government.

He said there was a change in the sentiments and attitude of the voters towards the federal government's policies, whereby the people of Kedah realised that BN was capable of bringing more progress and development.

"We are confident of winning in Kedah but it is conditional. A large number of voters have shifted their support to BN but we still need to work hard. We cannot take things easy and be complacent. We take a very firm view that we need to work very, very hard," he told reporters after meeting the people at the Desa Keda public field, at 13th mile, Pokok Sena, today.

He said the people now understood PAS and its failure, which was so obvious, and many businessmen, especially the Chinese, were saying the state government was not pro-business.

"There is no effort to bring in investments and to boost economic activities. We see frustration and a new awareness that in the coming general election they will give their votes to BN.

"We will, however, not take it easy. As the opposition in the state, we have to think like opposition to redeem our loss of state and parliamentary seats. I have stressed to them (state Umno leaders) the importance of resolving problems in the divisions," he said.

Other than that, Muhyiddin said, cooperation between Umno and other component parties was priority, and although the realisation to cooperate was improving, it was still inadequate.

"There must be commitment and more orderly work between BN and Umno. We should also get the young voters to our side," said Muhyiddin who was on a one-day visit to Kedah.
