At least 60 voters with dubious addresses have been identified in the latest supplementary electoral roll for the Lobak state constituency in Negeri Sembilan.

Incumbent Lobak state assemblyperson Anthony Loke, who is also the MP for Rasah, said the 60 voters were registered as residents of Taman Sri Amber, Seremban, but their house numbers were non-existent.

NONE “Houses in Taman Sri Amber start with the number 400. But here, we have voters registered with house numbers such as 24, 32, 48, 101, 131, 180, 201, 222 and 301, which do not exist,” Loke explained.

Referring to the fourth quarter supplementary electoral roll for 2011, he cited another example of a block of flats in Taman Sri Amber.

He said there was only one block of flats, but there were some voters registered at “Block B” and “Block C”, which do not exist.

Giving false info an offence

Another peculiarity with the electoral roll was that 90 percent of the 670 new voters registered during the last quarter were from one race only.

Loke, who is a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Electoral Reform, told Malaysiakini this after lodging a complaint with the Election Commission office in Seremban.

                            

"I believe voters of questionable backgrounds are being registered.

"It is an offence under Section 3 of the Election Offences Act to give false information in the voter registration forms,” said Loke, who is a lawyer.

Upon conviction, those infringing this law can be slapped with a two-year jail term, fined up to RM5,000 or both.

Loke plans to lodge a police report on the matter today.
