Pasir Mas parliamentarian Ibrahim Ali has announced that he will contest in the next general election.

He said, however, that he has yet to decide whether to defend the Pasir Mas seat or contest elsewhere and whether to do so as an independent candidate or represent a political party.

Ibrahim spoke to reporters after a meeting with the Chinese community in Pasir Mas last night.

He said the Chinese support for him and Perkasa, the Malay right-wing group which he leads, is a factor prompting him to contest in the next election.

Ibrahim won the Pasir Mas seat in the 2008 general election on a PAS ticket. He beat Ahmad Rosdi Mahmad of BN by 8,991 votes.
