Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister Joseph Salang said elected representatives or district offices do not decide on the approval or rejection of applications for the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M).

As such, unsuccessful applicants should not vent their frustration or anger on them, he said at a meet-the-people session cum house-warming at the 27-door Barak Gadom longhouse in Nyalak Ili last night.

Wrong particulars given in the forms are the main reason why the applications are rejected, he said.

He said that a Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representative has to take care of everyone in his or her constituency, regardless of whether they are BN party members or otherwise.

"It is wrong for him or her to only favour BN party members alone in terms of aid and grant distribution.

There are party members who are not happy about this, but I hope they will realise that the BN government is a government for all the people," he said.
