Syabas activates action plan after pipes burst in Gombak

Syabas executive director of corporate affairs Abdul Halem Mat Som said repair works were being carried out and were expected to be completed late this afternoon, with water supply expected to return to normal in stages in the affected areas.
“In the first incident, a 24-inch cast iron (CI) pipe was found burst at Jalan Genting Klang near the Columia Hospital. Syabas had received a complaint at 4am yesterday and had appointed a contractor to undertake repair works.
“At 11.50am yesterday, another 24-inch asbestos cement (AC) pipe receiving water supply from the Kolam Air AU3 Lama, was detected to have burst at Taman Wangsa Melawati opposite the Wangsa Melawati Mosque,” he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said that among the areas affected were the whole of Air Panas area, Setapak, Jalan Genting Kelang, Batu 3 up to Batu 5, Gombak, Langgak Bukit, Kampung Padang Balang, Wangsa Melawati and Taman Permata.
