The Selangor government is looking to Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Noh Omar to testify before the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat).

NONE The Selangor menteri besar’s political secretary, Faekah Husin ( left ), said they hoped Noh would make good his promise to expose graft in the state-owned sand mining company, Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB).

“Noh’s presence during the hearing is very important. Other than showing his sincerity (in) combatting graft, it will also give him ideas, inspiration and motivation to do the same at the federal level,” Faekah said in a statement today.

Noh said on Feb 17 that he would prepare documents and bring forward witnesses to prove irregularities in KSSB, should Selcat convene a public hearing into the company.

Three days later, Selcat announced that KSSB would be investigated , along with two companies under Perbadanan Kemajuan Pertanian Selangor and Yayasan Selangor.

Selcat chairperson Teng Chang Kim said the probe would be a follow-up on issues raised in the Auditor-General’s Report 2010.

‘What about NFC?’

Faekah said the Selcat investigations proved that the Pakatan Rakyat administration of Selangor was serious about tackling corruption.

NONE She said reforming the administration required patience because of the damage caused during BN’s 52-year rule of the state.

Faekah also accused Noh (right) , who is Selangor Umno deputy chief, of going all out against KSSB to draw attention away from the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) scandal.

But now, with Selangor moving to investigate allegations against state companies, Faekah said, Noh should show the same zeal in pursuing the truth behind the NFC scandal.

“If Noh is really looking for the truth, we challenge him as agriculture minister to (hold) a public hearing to expose the misuse of NFC’s funds by the family of his good friend,” she added.
