YOURSAY 'It is not because those Umno guys do not understand English. It is just that 'open tender' is never in their vocabulary.'
Bayan Mutiara deal: 'Umno leaders lying, here's proof'
Jeremy Ng:
Umno and BN political plays are getting more hilarious and most the times stupid. As one of the most corrupted regime, they are still trying to accuse others of being corrupt.
They assumed that all Malaysians are dumb and can be easily hoodwinked. We have Umno leaders talking about non-transparency in Pakatan Rakyat government tenders in Penang. This is the biggest joke.
Under BN federal or state government, most if not all the projects are with details shrouded from the public's eyes. Billions of public fund are given out on terms that any first-year business students will find super favourable.
Joker: These two Umno leaders (Penang Umno chief Zainal Abidin Osman and Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan) must be forgiven for their mistakes because under Umno, open tender has a different meaning.
Under Umno, when you do an open tender to sell land, you pick the lowest offer and then you negotiate with that lowest bidder to decrease the price further.
If you do open tender to build and operate a highway, you pick the highest bid and then negotiate to extend the concession period even longer.
Umno's method is different from the norm so it is only natural those two Umno leaders stood up to defend the right of their cronies.
Wira: Normally, after picking the highest bidder, the customer would ask if the successful vendor could sweeten the deal.
However, in Umno, this is the opposite as in Genting Sanyen case where the successful candidate for independent power production was asked to increase the unit price of power supply to TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) because Genting Sanyen proposed too low a price, thus embarrassing the EPU (Economic Planning Unit), which had awarded high prices to previous independent power producers.
Justice Pao: It is not because those Umno guys do not understand English. It is just that 'open tender' is never in their vocabulary.
The only type of tender they know is 'negotiated tender'. Which is why we have that for the IPPs (independent power producers), all the highways, defence contracts, etc.
True Grit: The Kota Belud MP wants to beat Khairy Jamaluddin to a deputy minister's post. So he is making all these false accusations so that he will be noticed by PM Najib Razak.
What a cheap way of displaying himself. This is an utter disgrace and a shameful act. He has brought disgrace to his family and all that he stands for.
Akutuan: YB LGE (Lim Guan Eng), you get me wrong. I act on behalf of the rakyat to make sure there is no corruption in your state government.
Just because I am dirty doesn't mean you are clean. I would not resign because I never agree to that term.
After all, I am taking my chance to be noticed by the PM for GE13. You all should be smart like me. Understand?
Peacemaker: The Kota Belud MP acts like an Umno spokesperson. He always tweets on just about any issue.
It is obvious that he tends to put his foot into his mouth. This issue seriously dented his credibility and integrity.
As principled politicians, both leaders have to apologise to the people and LGE over this matter. No one is going to believe them anymore - they are a bunch of liars.
LGE, you should continue the good work in Penang and aim to duplicate the system upon capturing Putrajaya. You are doing a great job, just ignore such fools in future.
Yellow Bird: I cannot fathom why these 'botol kosong' (empty bottles) make noise now, and not last year when the deal was struck.
Surely, if they feel that the tender was negotiated, they should have brought the issue up then, no?
Mohan Ghandi: Umno leaders have eggs on their face. Did they expect LGE to do what they normally do with their ‘negotiated tenders'?
The list is so long, we may need many pages. Defence Ministry's purchases, highway for West Coast, MRT (Mass Railway Transit), etc, etc.
This is one area Umno cannot question Pakatan as they will be roasted by the public. They cannot even justify the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) scandal.
Anonymous_3f4a: It's not that these two Umno leaders don't understand English.
It's because they don't know the business of tendering as Umno government doesn't practice such a culture. It's sheer ignorance on their part.
Baiyuensheng: The irony is that no matter what the we say here, or the truth for that matter, the country still vote for the corrupt Umno-BN to run the country.
Benci Munafik: Just because they are crooked, they think others are crooked too. That is why they made such charges as they thought it would be done their crooked ways.
