People’s Progressive Party (PPP) senior vice-president Maglin Dennis D’Cruz has confirmed that party supreme council member and Kota Raja division head Kamal Batcha Noor Mohideen has quit from all party posts.

He said Kamal Batcha’s resignation letter was sent to the PPP headquarters on Monday.

“We received the resignation letter from Kamal (quitting from all posts in PPP) and he is no longer a PPP member,” he told reporters after visiting an Orang Asli settlement at Kampung Sungai Bumbun in Kuala Langat today.

Maglin claimed that Kamal Batcha had made unfounded and wild accusations against him, the entire party supreme council members and also the Kota Raja BN, via the resignation letter.

“He has criticised me and the PPP supreme council members through the letter, stating the reasons behind his resignation. I am contemplating taking legal action against him.

“I have met and spoken to my lawyers about the matter,” he said.

Commenting further, Maglin said the PPP Kota Raja division was still intact although Kamal Batcha had resigned.

On Monday, Bernama received a faxed copy of the resignation letter from Kamal Batcha, which stated, among others, that he had lost confidence in the national PPP leadership.

Meanwhile, Maglin, who is also Deputy Information Communication and Culture Minister, said the ministry was intensifying efforts to upgrade the Orang Asli’s standard of living nationwide by increasing their income.

He said the ministry would also protect the Orang Asli’s ancestral land as they had made significant contribution towards the nation’s well-being.

“Many Orang Asli have prospered, like becoming doctors and lawyers, and they also represent their community in Parliament,” he added.
