Zamil lays claim to Kita presidency
Zamil Ibrahim, the Kedah chairman of Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita), who claims to have become the president of Kita, said today he will send a complete report on the new management of the party to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on Wednesday.
Zamil Ibrahim, the Kedah chairman of Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita), who claims to have become the president of Kita, said today he will send a complete report on the new management of the party to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on Wednesday.
He said the report to ROS would show that the party is helmed by a new leadership and is no longer headed by Zaid Ibrahim.
“All reports, including the minutes of the extraordinary general meeting in Kelantan on Feb 25, are ready to be submitted to ROS.
“The new management will meet for the first time in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow to plan the party’s activities,” he told Bernama .
Zamil advised party members to remain calm, and said the new management is in the process of overcoming all weaknesses in the party.
“Some say I am indulging in self-glorification by becoming president of Kita. I was appointed at a meeting in Kelantan to head the new management and the post is not forever.
“On the other hand, I hold the post for a period to ensure that Kita runs smoothly, and we will hold fresh elections in accordance with the party constitution,” he said.
Yesterday, Kita secretary Masrum Dayat denied that Zamil had been appointed the new president, and said he was as an ex-member as he had been sacked.
Masrum was reported as saying that the head of the party could only be removed in accordance with the party constitution and regulations and not at the whims of a former member who has been legitimately sacked.
The Kita controversy started when Zaid recently announced that the party would be disbanded.
