The conflict ailing the PAS-ruled Kedah showed opposition parties were incapable of ruling the state, what more the country, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Mohamed Nazri Aziz.

He said the internal problems affecting the PAS leadership could jeopardise various development programmes for the people in the state.

"This is their internal affair but as a government, it will affect the people. It shows that when not in power, it was easy to talk... but today, it could not even administer a state, what more the country.

"The personal problems of two leaders have become the problem of the people," he told reporters after attending a programme on 'Semarak Kasih' in the Beluru zone at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Beluru in Kuala Kangsar today.

He was commenting on the crisis affecting Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak and the Phahrolrazi Zawawi-led group which has not seen any solution despite a special four-hour meeting recently.

Therefore, Mohamed Nazri, who is also Umno supreme council member, urged the people to re-think the position of opposition parties at state-level as their administration had merely brought problems to the people.

Cat on a hot tin roof

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has described PAS as "a cat on a hot tin roof" (cacing kepanasan) following disclosure of the party's secrets by former strongman Hasan Ali.

He said PAS was making Umno and BN the scapegoat by accusing the Youth and Sports Ministry of giving RM30 million to finance Hasan's nationwide roadshow.

"Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek (Youth and Sports Minister) told me of this. It is normal for PAS to accuse Umno when facing problems.

"PAS is running in panic following Hasan's disclosure at his roadshow and has nobody else to blame but Umno," he said when presenting Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) for Jorak constituency at National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) in Muar today.

PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar had claimed that the Youth and Sports Ministry channeled RM30 million to fund the roadshow by Hasan, the former Selangor PAS commissioner.

Muhyiddin said that the claim was a lie and as a fellow Muslim, he advised PAS not to commit sins.

"Hasan Ali has the strength and determination to disclose what is happening in PAS and the party has to face it.

"Why accuse Umno for their problems. PAS should recognise their own flaws and not look for a black sheep," he added.

Asked whether the government will act against Mahfuz for making the claim, he said it is up to the minister concerned to take appropriate action.
