DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, who had likened Najib Abdul Razak’s apology for the BN's mistakes as a "blank cheque" without significance, has come under fire from Penang Umno Youth.

NONE Its head Shaik Hussein Mydin ( right ) said Kit Siang’s statement clearly showed that he is "chauvinistic and racist", and that he "is like an old man who has not learnt enough".

As such, Penang Umno Youth vows to teach both Kit Siang and his son Guan Eng - the Penang chief minister - a lesson.

"Will the DAP be sincere and brave enough to apologise to Penangites for all the lies and betrayal that Guan Eng is responsible for in the state?" Shaik asked.

Najib issued his second apology in Kedah on Saturday for the BN’s mistakes in the last general election, which had caused the loss of several seats and states.

azlan Yesterday, Kit Siang asked if Najib had issued a 'blank cheque' apology that signified nothing, so as to enable all the BN mistakes of abuse of power, corruption and lack of accountability to be repeated in an even worse magnitude.

He also said he would accept Najib's apology if it was genuine, although there has been no such indication based on news reports to date.

Shaik Hussein challenged Kit Siang to do just that, listing "lies and betrayal" by Guan Eng, ever since the latter became chief minister in March 2008.

The issues include "lying" about abolishing the Sungai Nyior toll; "betrayal" in selling land belonging to Penangites to private developers such as Bayan Mutiara; and imposing the development of a subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Bayan Baru.

‘Punish the DAP’

Shaik Hussein also blamed Guan Eng for allegedly demolishing hawker stalls belonging to Malays and the poor, insulting Islam and "lying" about building low-cost houses that have not materialised.

"We hope the people will punish DAP's actions in the 13th general election," he said.

Shaik Hussein applauded Najib for issuing the apology, saying this was "honorable and commendable" by the highest-ranking individual in the country and in Umno

"It is not easy for someone to apologise for his party's mistakes, especially when he did not rule (the party or country during) the last general polls," he added.
