The Malacca government today signed a deal with Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad in a move to provide an excellent stage bus service in the state.

The MoU was signed by deputy state secretary (development) Zainal Hussin and RapidKL director (bus division) Zohari Sulaiman, who represented Prasarana.

Malacca Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam, who witnessed the signing, said the buses ordered would be for the use of state-owned Panorama Melaka Cultural and Tourism (PMCT) Sdn Bhd.

“We need 141 new buses to replace the 110 old buses taken over by PMCT from the 10 bus companies operating in the state previously. Only 50 buses are operating in a day, and all of them are old,” he said after the signing ceremony.

Mohd Ali said Malacca had ordered 116 buses which would be delivered in stages up to the end of this year.

“We have 10 Panorama red buses. Today, we have added 15 more, bringing the total to 25. We can resolve the matter of problem routes,” he said.
