Rafizi, Zuraida counter-sue Shahrizat Abdul Jalil
PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli and the party's Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin this morning filed a counter-suit against cabinet minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli and the party's Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin this morning filed a counter-suit against cabinet minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
Speaking at a press conference today, Rafizi said the move was to ensure that information on abuse of power pertaining to the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) is exposed in open court.
"I fear the plaintiff may want to delay the trial or withdraw the lawsuit soon to avoid dragging important documents and the top BN leadership into court," he said.
Rafizi and Zuraida also today submitted their defence in reply to the slander suit filed against them by the women, family and community development minister, and the papers were sent to Shahrizat's counsel Muhammad Shafee and Co this afternoon.
In her suit, Shahrizat says she was slandered by Rafizi and Zuraida during their exposes on the embattled NFC, which is owned by Shahrizat's husband and three children.
According to Rafizi, the counter-suit against Shahrizat, which was filed in the Kuala Lumpur High Court this morning, relates to "slander in her (Shahrizat's) opening address at the Wanita Umno Assembly" on Nov 30, 2011.
"Shahrizat and the BN leadership can no longer avoid facing the people on this matter.
"The PM and BN top leaders may not be serious in bringing those responsible in the NFC scandal to book, but I'm sure the court will give space, so that such abuse can be made public," he added.
