The Subang and Shah Alam Consumers Association (Cassa) today lodged a report at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) claiming abuse in awarding of waste disposal tenders in Selangor.

Its president Jacob George, who filed the report at the Selangor MACC office, said he also enclosed several documents, including a copy of the police report which he made last Wednesday, to MACC.

“I was challenged by the Selangor government leadership (to produce documents) and I have submitted the relevant documents to MACC.

“Cassa is doing this without any bad intention, but to seek justice,” he told reporters in Shah Alam.

Jacob said the state government had been given 48 hours to freeze the tenders, failing which the association would launch its series of talks state-wide to expose the matter to the public.

He claimed that after exposing the matter last Wednesday, he received a threatening message sent through the short messaging service.

Someone also placed garbage and a lighter on his car, he added.

It was reported in the newspapers yesterday that Cassa wanted the Selangor government to freeze the awarding of waste disposal tenders, following complaints of abuse in the awarding of the tenders.
