Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today denied that Umno had received a resignation letter from Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to quit as Wanita Umno chief.  

"No... no resignation letter as far as I know. I did speak to her on Monday but cannot reveal details," he told reporters when asked if he had received such a letter.

Earlier, Tengku Adnan, who is also the MP for Putrajaya, had launched a mini-carnival organised by Puteri Umno in Precinct 9, here.

The position of Shahrizat, who is also Women, Family and Community Development Minister, became controversial after allegations surfaced that there had been alleged mismanagent in the National Feedlot Centre, a project aimed at helping the country reduce beef import.

The centre is managed by NFCorp, a company run by her husband Mohamed Salleh Ismail  

Yesterday, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had said that he would be making an announcement on Shahrizat's status as minister and Wanita Umno chief at the appropriate time.
